Private Labelling explained
In the below steps you will learn what private labelling is:
You would no longer need to redirect your customers to an SHR URL when they go into the SHR booking engine on your website.
You can re-write the URL for these pages on your website so that they display to shoppers as a hotel-branded URL.
For example, you may opt to change your booking engine page URLs to give users the impression of a seamless booking path, from:
https://fe.shrgroup.com/ to https://secure.yourhoteldomain.com/
⚠️ Note: yourhoteldomain.com is to be replaced with your actual website's domain.
The primary benefit of private labelling is in further reassuring potential customers of the legitimacy of your website’s booking process throughout every stage of their booking path.
Implement Private Labelling
Follow the details below to enable private labelling:
Detail of the DNS record they will need to add:
You will need to configure a DNS record with your hosting provider to point the new secure subdomain to link to the Allora IBE server.
⚠️ Note: This is normally done by your domain registrar or your IT provider or someone who normally deals with your DNS Control Panel settings.
DNS record: secure.yourhoteldomain.com
CNAME proxy.avvio.com
Once that DNS record is saved on your DNS settings, it can take up to 24 hours to propagate to servers all over the world.
An example of a DNS control panel is below to help with the creation of the record.
If you need assistance with this, please contact [email protected]
We will require login details to your DNS control panel to assist.
Once SHR Group has confirmed this step is complete, SHR will need to assign the booking engine to this new domain and get a SSL cert in place. Once setup is complete, then it will be time to start updating links across your website.
⚠️ Technical Notes: Some control panels only require you to set the CNAME up with just word secure and puts it in your domain afterward automatically. A common mistake made is to set up the CNAME as secure.yourhoteldomain.com.yourhoteldomain.com in these types of DNS control panels, which is incorrect and would need to be corrected.
A CNAME always has to end with a dot but some control panel will also add this automatically.
If your DNS is with Cloudflare
Please ensure that the record is NOT going through the Cloudflare proxy.
Please ensure the cloud beside the record is GREY and NOT ORANGE as a SSL cert can not be issued if the records are going through the Cloudflare proxy (which is set ON as default).
The DNS record should look like the below :
The DNS record should NOT have Proxied beside it.
Update all website links to the booking engine
In the details below you will know how to update website links to the booking engine:
Once the SHR Group has confirmed the DNS control panel is complete and everything is working ok with your new secure domain, then it will be time to start updating links across your website.
Up to now all the booking engine & voucher links on your website point to a sub domain on avvio.com e.g. fe.avvio.com or ag.avvio.com. However, now that you have your own secure domain, the current SHR Group links will need to be updated across your website to show your new secure domain.
Essentially, any link that contains fe.avvio.com or ag.avvio.com will need to be updated. Where applicable, these links could be used throughout your site in:
Offer Icons/Images
Offer Links
Quickbook Forms
Promo Code Forms
Corporate Login
Vouchers
Newsletter Signup
Contact Forms
SHR Group can assist in helping you update these links, but there may be a charge associated with that. Please contact support to find out these charges.
All links beginning with any of the following:
will need to be replaced with:
Update all digital marketing campaign links
Once all the links are updated remember to follow the steps below to ensure campaigns are up to date:
All current and future digital marketing campaign links pointing to avvio.com links will need to be updated also.
These include:
Google PPC ads
Bing PPC ads
Offer Links etc on Facebook or other Social Media accounts the hotel has.
Email Marketing campaigns
Offer links on other partner websites
Double click Floodlight Tracking
If you require assistance from the SHR group digital marketing team to replace some of those links, there may be a cost associated with that. Please contact your SHR group digital marketing account manager for more information
Private Label booking engine link not working inside my property only
Follow the details below to trouble shoot the issue:
In some cases when you create a sub-domain from your main domain name, such as secure.yourhotelname.com this can show an error for anyone who searches from within the property itself.
If your property's IT network uses a domain controller and this domain control is called the same as your hotel domain, which is quite common, then it will not resolve properly and show as a DNS error.
This issue will not affect online visitors outside of your property.
To resolve this, your IT network administrator will need to put an exemption into the DNS settings of the domain controller so that secure.yourhotelname.com goes to proxy.avvio.com.
