Create an upsell
Follow the steps below to create your upsells:
General tab
Click on the Booking Engine tab.
Hover over Upsells.
Click Upsell group list.
Click + Create package group.
The first tab called general will open by default.
Select the type from the dropdown list. Reference image a,b,c and d.
Click on the best status for the upsell.
Enter a code in the provided box.
Order index is not applicable.
Enter a short title: This is the title displayed on mobile or tablets.
Enter a long title: This is the title displayed on wider screens.
Enter the description: This will be the main body text in your upsell.
Click save changes.
Select box list - this will give a drop down list of numbers. A customer can choose to select a number of a specific item. For example a customer can select 2 bottles of wine.
Check box list - A customer can select which option is applicable. As per the example below.
Radio button - A customer can select which option is applicable. As per the example below.
Mandatory - This upsell is mandatory, if there is a cost associated with this upsell it will apply automatically. This upsell should be considered before use.
Extra tab
Under the header settings there are 4 boxes that you can click.
Display textarea for additional user feedback - A box will present for a user to input additional information.
Expand group by default - This will present all the information in the upsell without the user having to click a box to open.
Disallow this group from being collapsed - If this is clicked the upsells information will always show.
Always show even if upsell is collapsed.
Enter information in the additional text.
You can input an additional header and footer.
Textarea comments is used to indicate what information you would like the customer to input.
See image below for an example where the header, footer and textarea comment will appear.
Click save changes.
Advanced tab
Click the box if you need to enter an applicable date. Use the drop down menu to enter the dates.
Group is only active during specified period: This refers to the upsell being for sale between a specific date for any check in date.
Applies only for checkin dates in range: This restriction for the upsell refers to the upsell been only available if the customer has selected the relevant checkin dates. For example if there is a New Years Eve dinner that is optional and available for guests to add on to their reservation on the 31st December.
Leadin times can be entered in the provided boxes. This can be used if the item for example flowers need to be ordered 3 days prior to arrival.
Colours is no longer applicable.
Notifications: enter an email address who will also get the notification of the booking. For example a restaurant manager email address to receive notification of a dinner upsell.
Click on the applicable tax policy. The default maybe the applicable policy.
Click save changes.
Filters tab
Click on the button whether to opt in or opt out rates.
Click the button if you would like the upsell not to appear for rates with dinner or breakfast included. For example if you have a BB rate you would not have a breakfast upsell.
Click the button on the opt out or opt in to have the upsell included.
Click save changes.
Images tab
Click the box next to the image.
Click add selected.
The image will present in the right column.
Click save changes.
Add prices to your upsell
Follow the steps below to include prices in your upsell:
In the upsells screen you will now see the upsell created.
Click customise to open the pricing window.
Name - this is the name of the individual item for example bottle of white wine.
Suspended - tick this box if you wish to suspend the upsell.
Order - this is specific to the pricing window. Leave the default 0 if you don not wish to reorder.
Max quantity- this is the maximum amount of an item you can purchase.
Strike price - this can be used to show that the price is discounted.
Price - this is the price of the individual item.
Price type - there are a number of different options available such as per item, per person, per person/per night. The options available depend on the upsell set in the previous section.
Calendar icon - this opens a pop-up calendar if you need to close a date out.
Allocate by inventory block - the details of this is outlined under the header add inventory to your upsell.
Day of week availability - you can specify specific days of the week for the item to be available. Leave all unticked if no such restrictions apply.
Description - this is the main content of the message. For example the bottle of white wine could be the name but you may want to describe the type of wine.
Click + create new item to add an additional product for example a bottle of red wine.
Click save changes.
Reorder your upsells
Follow the steps below to reorder your upsells. This is how they will appear on the customise page:
Click on the Booking Engine tab.
Hover over upsells in the left hand navigation.
Click upsell group list.
The list of upsells will appear.
Move you cursor over the three horizontal lines on the right.
Click and drag the upsell to the correct place.
Repeat this step until you are happy with the order.
Actions will save automatically.
Add inventory to your upsell
Note: This is only applicable for limited items. If you do not have to limit the sale of an item you do not have to complete this section.
Follow the steps below if you need to limit the quantify of an item you can sell each day or on specific days:
Click on the Booking Engine tab.
Hover over upsells in the left hand navigation.
Click upsell inventory block list.
Click + create upsell inventory block.
Enter a block title.
Choose the status that is applicable.
Enter the block description.
Enter the number of items you have for sale each day under the header allocation. If you enter 3 under Mon this is every Monday in the year.
Under the header exceptions, click the button manage exceptions on specific dates.
In the window that opens you can enter different quantities for specific dates.
Click confirm.
Close this window.
Click save changes.
Add an inventory block to an upsell
Follow the steps below to add your inventory block to your upsell:
Click on the Booking Engine tab.
Hover over upsells in the left hand navigation.
Click upsell group list.
Click customise on the applicable upsell.
Under the header allocate by inventory block, select the inventory block from the drop down list.
Click save changes.
