Internal and external rate codes explained

Internal rate code

An internal rate code is a unique identifier for a rate in the booking engine. Any given rate code can only exist once on your site. This will appear on all rates regardless of whether you are integrated with a third party or not.

You can view all your internal rate codes by following the steps below:

  • Click booking engine along the top navigation.

  • On the left navigation hover over rates and packages.

  • Click browse rates.

  • Your rates will list.

  • In this screen the internal rate code will show for each rate.

  • Click edit on the selected rate.

  • It will open on the general tab.

  • The first box is the rate code.

  • Click save changes.

External rate code

An external rate code is an identifier used when your booking engine is interfaced with a third party, such as a PMS or channel manager. If you are attempting to sync your rate on the booking engine with a rate code on your PMS or channel manager, you would enter your PMS or channel manager code for this rate in the external rate code box on the booking engine. This will enable reservations and pricing to sync seamlessly between booking engine and your PMS or channel manager.

Note: This can be useful for example if you want reservations from 2 rates in SHR BE to sync back to one rate in your PMS/Channel Manager.

You can view all your external rate codes by following the steps below:

  • Click booking engine along the top navigation.

  • On the left navigation hover over rates and packages.

  • Click browse rates.

  • Your rates will list.

  • In this screen the external rate code will show for each rate.
