Set up hidden rates
A Hidden Rate is a special rate that can only be booked using a direct link. It won’t appear in regular search results on your booking engine.
This is useful if your hotel or property wants to offer exclusive deals—for example, to:
Past guests
Newsletter subscribers
Loyalty members
Only people who have the special link will be able to see and book the rate.
To set up a hidden rate, please follow the below instructions:
Log into SHR booking engine.
On the left side navigation panel select rates & packages, then select browse rates.
Click the create rate button to the left of the screen.
Click the link here to see how to create a rate.
In the advanced tab is where you make your rate hidden.
Under the access heading, If you want the rate to be protected, e.g. only accessed via a promo code or username/password entry, then you would tick this box.
Under distribution website modules heading, this is where you select which modules the rate will be available on. For a hidden rate we UNTICK all boxes so the rate isn't available on any of the below result pages.
Public Availability (MDA) Page - The rate will be visible to on the Search Results page on the Booking Engine.
Mobile - Tick this to make the rate available on mobile devices.
Streaming Offers - Tick this to make the rate will on the streaming offers pages of SHR BE CMS sites (if applicable to you).
Mobile Only - Tick this box to make the rate ONLY appear on mobile devices.
8. Click save changes.
Add a period to new rates
Once the rate is saved you will need to add a period to the new rate. To do so, follow the steps below:
Go back to your list of rates.
On your hidden rate, select the periods button to the right of the rate.
Click add rate period and enter the rate periods for that rate.
Next you will need to add pricing to your rate.
Add pricing
Once you have added the rate period you will then need to add pricing.
How you enter prices depends on your Macro Type:
You’ll either enter pricing for each day of the week,
or by Rate Band (a set pricing period).
You can also choose to set pricing:
Per Room
Or Per Adult
⚠️Important: If you leave a day blank, the rate won’t be available to book for that day until a price is added.
As this rate is hidden, it will not appear on the Booking Engine or any results pages for your Hotel/Property. For guests to access this rate they will need the link.
To get the link for your hidden rate, follow the steps below:
On the left side navigation panel select rates & packages, then select browse rates.
Find your hidden rate.
Click on the green web button to the right of your rate.
Copy the URL from the newly opened webpage.
Only copy up to ".html" - see example below.
Use this URL for anywhere you are promoting the rate.
