Smart ordering

Smart ordering is an algorithm that prioritizes the display of rates and rooms based on predefined criteria. This ensures that users see the most pertinent options at the top of their search results.

Rooms or rates are displayed according to the smart ordering rules defined for the hotel in the search tab of the edit site profile screen. The price calendar section will still display the cheapest available price for the hotel during the given dates, regardless of rate ordering.

The ordering applies to the rate by room view as well as the room by rate view.

The default order is:

  • Event.

  • Available.

  • LOS match.

  • Best available price.

  • Protected or hidden rate.

  • Matching tags.

  • Preferred.

  • Order index.

By analyzing these elements, smart ordering dynamically adjusts the display order to optimize the booking experience.

This default order is optimal for single day availability (SDA) as well as multiple day availability (MDA). This order will make sure that event rates are displayed first. As it needs to work on both SDA and MDA, availability and LOS matching are the next important part, otherwise cheaper but not available rates or rooms might be the first in order.
The price is calculated for SDA and MDA at the same time, as cheaper prices on other dates could otherwise lead to unexpected results.

Protected rates, matching tags and preferred rates are then afterwards used to refine the search further.
Lastly the order index makes sure that rates and rooms appear in the set order, if all previous options have not set any precedence.
